This site doesn't really have a mission, *I* have a mission though, so that will do:
- Finish Ph.D.
- Dr. Bailey Ltd - the entrepreneurial part of my life
- Go Dark/Remote - work a winter in the alps, skiing every day, and working over the marvel that is the internet
Gym - Bike Session
Posted January 6th, 2009 by Eoin
I went for a 45 minute cycle in the gym today. Just to keep some fitness in the body before skiing!
Post-skiing though I'm still hoping to ramp up to marathon training!
Protect Yourself from Risky Businesses
Posted January 6th, 2009 by Eoin
Unfortunately, we could all need some advice over the next few months (or years) regarding what to do if a business you have a contract with goes bust: What To Do if a Business Goes Bust
Do you have a directory on your computer where stuff goes to be organised - only to stay there for protracted periods of time?

Back to Work!
Posted January 5th, 2009 by Eoin
First of all, I hope everybody have a great break, I know I did. I had some nice downtime, and I'm feeling very refreshed and ready to tackle lots of work in 2009!
Path Finder "open with"
Posted December 16th, 2008 by Eoin
I written about Path Finder already, but there was one feature that I wanted, I wanted to have the option to have an 'open with' menu in the sidebar. I don't always use the same program when opening individual documents or a general document type.

This is an interesting, and scary, graph.

Replacing Project and Project issue in Drupal 6
Posted December 8th, 2008 by Eoin
Drupal 6 has a problem, Project and Project Issue are not yet ready for it, and they may never be (incidentally this is the reason why drupal.org is still on Drupal 5, and will stay that way for the forseeable future). It is also the reason why I am still using Drupal 5 on this site.
Drupal 6 - Access Denied as Superuser while editing blocks
Posted December 5th, 2008 by Eoin
If you are editing your block configuration, and you get an 'Access Denied' error when trying to save the new settings, and you are logged in as the superuser (user 1), check that the theme that you are using is enabled.
Blackberry 8220 - OS Update
Posted December 4th, 2008 by Eoin
I complained about the OS on my 8220 Monday last, and today I find out there is a new OS out!
This is OS version 4.6.0.318/4.6.0.180 (I've never bothered to find out why there are two different version numbers... maybe I will someday soon.
Digsby
Posted December 3rd, 2008 by Eoin
Up until Wednesday, I was using Pidgin on my Windows machine, but on Wednesday morning, I decided to try out Digbsy. After the limited use I've put it through, it seems quite nice. Features it has that I like:
- Individual statuses for different accounts
- The style of the window (compared to Pidgin)
Blackberry 8220
Posted December 2nd, 2008 by Eoin
I'm running the latest OS for my Blackberry: 4.6.0.174/4.6.0.309. For the first time, it's not working perfectly. I'm getting some strange behaviour, mostly to do with the profiles. It changes ringer randomly, even though it tells me it's using a specified ringtone, and it plays when I'm in the profile settings page.
Less and Less Free Time!
Posted December 1st, 2008 by Eoin
I seem to have less and less free time of late, and yet more and more to do!
Keeping busy is good, while the prospect of being a lazy bum is appealing, when it comes to it, I get bored very quickly, and having nothing to do is fun for about thirty seconds.
Finding the same problem? Try out the power nap guide!
After a weekend of laziness...
Posted November 24th, 2008 by Eoin
After a weekend of laziness and games at a LAN session (Left 4 Dead was released last week don't you know?), it was time to go for a run. And you know what, I think the two days of not moving from the chair, except to walk to the chipper at 2 in the morning, helped me out, that 11K is the first time in a long time I felt really comfortable for the whole run.
